The hanging garden of babylon its does not mean it was 'hanging' its was like a green hill .

The name comes from an inexact translation of the Greek word kremastos, or the Latin word pensilis, which means not just "hanging", but "overhanging" as in the case of a terrace or balcony.

The garden been built under the king order king Nebuchadnezzar ll, he was the ruler of babylon.He builted the hanging garden to cheer up his wife Amyitis the daughter of king medes, she married Nebuchadnezzar to make a allience between two country.

The country that she came from have a green land,ruggued and mountains.So Amyitis miss her country land that have been live before married Nebuchadnezzar.

The hanging garden been built with mud brick waterproofed with lead , was the reason the big tree can grew on the garden.
